training and awareness raising

  • in the framework of a foresight unit (capacity building) or a foresight exercise (transformation)

Foresight cannot be practiced in a closed environment. It is necessary to prepare the ground work with the needs of the various audiences within an organization.

The foresight unit (or the project team in the case of a territorial foresight exercice) faces three different groups of interlocutors.

  • The first circle is composed of the highest authority. To enable foresight to percolate to the heart of an organization, it is necessary that the highest echelon of the hierarchy clearly expresses its interest in the subject. Hence, the first target for awareness raising, that is, the head of the organization, may be the general director, politician or minister. This step may be realized in one hour of awareness raising.

  • The second circle is composed of the immediate interlocutors of the foresight unit: their in-house ‘clients’ and close partners. In-house training varies from one to two days and provides a solid groundwork on foresight and how it relates to the organisation.

  • The third circle is composed of those who need to know about foresight activity, but are not directly involved: advisers (economic and social, municipal, general, regional), directors (middle management, general or operational), representatives (of the State or of a group), etc. Generally, two to four hours will suffice to give them an idea of foresight.

our references

In addition to the in-house training that we systematically propose in the foresight exercises (cf. transformation), we also organize inter-organizational training, notably in collaboration with “Pont – Formation” (the continual professional education service at the prestigious French engineering school l'Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées).
