Understanding each other depends on our use of commonly defined terms. Frequently- in foresight as in other disciplines - misunderstandings or apparent theoretical conflicts arise from an insufficient sharing of definitions. Each specialist tends to construct their own semantics and often refuses to question them.

The glossary of terms below unites definitions from different sources within primarily the French and English languages. It is therefore bi-lingual. The most frequently used translation of a term appears when possible.
