macro-politics
Under the little-used term 'macro-politics', we see two major issues:
-
the first covers what is commonly called 'geopolitics' (relations between States) and the phenomenon of globalization as a comprehensive system;
-
the second concerns all regulations that are necessary for the proper functioning of a public system (res publica), whether territorial or global.

Mediterranean
The Mediterranean was the cradle of exceptional civilizations: Mesopotamian, Egyptian, Greek, Roman, Arab-Muslim, Western ... It briefly gave rise to an almost ideal society (in Al Andalus) in which the three principal religions tolerated each other. These are the same religions that today undermine the foundations of peace in the Middle East and whose mutual animosity is a powder keg for all riparian countries. How do we inject a new future into the Mediterranean area, that is capable of reducing inequalities, overcoming environmental degradation and controlling migration?

Africa
Ancestral home of mankind, Africa today is a reflection of the arrogance of the developed countries. Its borders, its lifestyle, its trading systems have been changed against its will. At present its very life force is disappearing through the brain drain. Globalization cannot leave a fourth-world in its wake.
Asia
"Tomorrow's world will be Asian." How will the Asian countries evolve in their cultures, societies, economies and political systems: What will be the dominant influences? Auroville or the manga ... Tigers or Bear ... ? Is Japan the laboratory of our future or only an epiphenomenon?
regulations
governance, political systems
The 90's coined the word "governance" reflecting the evolution of the twentieth century dominant political system: democracy. Representative democracy, participatory democracy, deliberative democracy ... disinterest for political parties and growing abstention... local governments ... what might be the future of political or other governance systems?

- [Lyon Metropolitan Area]
[Following our work on governance with one of the Millennium 3 groups and on the Lyonnais territory project with the major institutions, the Foresight and Urban Strategy Mission of Lyon Metropolitan Area appointed proGective to collaborate with them on the concept of "consultation". The shape of the metropolitan council swiftly took shape, along similar lines to those of the Strategic Councils of different European metropolitan areas like Barcelona, Bilbao or Leeds. Following the approval of the “Law Voynet” in June 1999, the metropolitan council was obliged to become a Development Council and adapt to the new legislative framework. In close cooperation with the Lyon team, proGective’s work consisted of developing operating procedures, and the composition and organization of the Council which was to be launched by September 2000.]

public policies, policy design
How can we improve the effectiveness of public policies? How can their functional sectoriality help manage the increasing complexity of territories? How much room is there for manoeuvre? What about policy appraisal, or the possibility of reconsideration? How does policy listen to citizens?
