foresight exercises (conception, leading, studies)
There are many ways to practice foresight: research studies, the creation or development of foresight capacities within an organization, or —notably in territorial foresight— through organizing and driving so-called foresight exercises.
What we call "exercise" is a collective work of foresight, whether it is exploratory, normative or both.
An exercise thus implies:
-
a general architecture, defining its organization in terms of foresight methodology, project management and production and circulation of information;
-
an information base, enabling participants to acquire essential information on the subject to be treated;
-
a clear design —and its implementation— of the way to organize participants (consultation, participation, cooperation) and define expectations from participants in the new organization;
-
a strong capacity to drive a workgroup, including knowledge of the various existing methods in workgroup development as well as conflict management.
