Nous sommes une société anonyme : comment, autrement que sous la forme commerciale, préserver notre indépendance et la continuité de notre action ? La SICS a été créée en 1947 et c'est en 1958 que nous avons créé, autour du philosophe Gaston Berger, le Centre international de prospective. Trois générations se sont succédées depuis, poursuivant la démarche initiée par Gaston Berger, inventeur de la prospective.

The Institute for Future Studies is an independent public research foundation, based in Stockholm. The basic funding of the Institute comes from the state budget but we also receive external grants from public and private financiers.
The Institute's mission is to pursue futures studies, long-term analyses and related activities on its own or in collaboration with others. The purpose is to encourage an open, broad-based public debate both on future threats and opportunities.
