Futur - the German research dialog:
"Ask the right questions today and have the correct answers at hand for important challenges tomorrow." It was with this aim in mind that the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) initiated the "Futur" German research dialogue in 2001. Up to its conclusion in 2005, "Futur" provided a platform for exchanges between representatives from various segments of society and developed ideas for future research issues of the BMBF. The final results of the "Futur" programme were presented to the BMBF as scheduled in autumn 2005.

The links between science and research outcomes and socio-economic progress are complex and uncertain.
